Meteorological Assistant & Officer in- Charge, Meteorological Observatory, Sreemanga Anisur Rahman said that the lowest temperature in Moulvibazar on Monday was 12.5 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature in Moulvibazar on Sunday was 9.6 degrees Celsius. The previous day, Saturday, the lowest temperature was recorded at 12.2 degrees Celsius. Due to the drop in temperature, Moulvibazar is experiencing severe cold. The weather office believes that the cold is settling in. The sun was not visible all day on Monday. Although the temperature did not drop much, it is felt to be very cold. Meanwhile, the presence of people on the streets and ghats of Moulvibazar city and various upazilas has decreased due to the severe cold. Traders are also opening their shops late in the morning.
Again, the presence of people in the city is decreasing after 10 pm. At the same time, the number of vehicles is also decreasing. After 11 pm, the entire city is empty. Shops are closing. In rural areas, people are no longer outside after 8 pm. All types of shops are closing by 10 pm.
Again, traders are not opening their shops before 10 am the next day. It is learnt that due to the severe cold, warm clothes shops in the city are closed. Crowds have increased. Shahed Mia, who was sitting on Shamshernagar Road in search of work, said that he was late coming here in the morning due to the increasing cold. Due to which he did not get any work today.

Sujan Mia, who lives in the village, said that when the cold weather sets in, they have to endure a lot of hardship. On one hand, there is the fear of not getting work, and on the other hand, there is also the worry of working in the cold.
They come here early in the morning because it becomes difficult to travel with their families if they do not work. Especially the workers in rural areas have become unemployed due to the winter. Fog covers most of the day.
Along with this, the intensity of winter is also more in the villages. Due to this, the workers of the villages are not able to go to work. Those who are working have suffered more due to the cold.
Deputy Commissioner Touhiduzzaman Pavel said, So far, 12,897 blankets have been received from the government in the district for the people. All the blankets from the upazila have been divided union-wise and sub-allocated to the union parishad chairman. Information received during this time Accordingly, 9,987 blankets have been distributed so far. There are 700 blankets in stock. The distribution process is ongoing.
