Emphasising the need for sustained economic stability and growth, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has expressed confidence that the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2026 will significantly contribute to expanding economic activities, generating employment and strengthening Bangladesh’s export base.

In a message issued on Saturday, Prof Yunus said the interim government has been steadfast in its commitment to maintaining economic stability while promoting growth since assuming office.

“In this context, the Dhaka International Trade Fair serves as a crucial platform for advancing these national objectives,” he noted.

The month-long fair was formally inaugurated on Saturday by Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Exhibition Center (CBFEC) in Purbachal’s Rupganj area.

Prof Yunus said he believes the fair will play a meaningful role in overall national development by promoting locally made products, encouraging export diversification and attracting foreign investment.

He also expressed hope that all participating countries and institutions would collaborate in a spirit of partnership and mutual cooperation.

“With active participation from all stakeholders, I expect the fair to become a vibrant, buyer-friendly and festive event,” the Chief Adviser said, wishing DITF 2026 every success.

On the occasion, he conveyed his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all participants, including local and foreign entrepreneurs, investors, traders and buyers. Describing the fair as a unique initiative, Prof Yunus said it highlights Bangladesh’s vast potential on the global stage.

He further noted that the Dhaka International Trade Fair plays a key role in promoting domestic products and expanding export opportunities.

Over the years, the month-long event has consistently served as an effective platform for showcasing high-quality locally manufactured goods to domestic and international visitors, buyers and importers.

At the same time, the fair allows local entrepreneurs and consumers to gain insights into the quality, design and global trends of foreign products, he added.

Originally scheduled to begin on January 1, the inauguration of the trade fair was postponed to January 3 following the government’s declaration of three days of national mourning over the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
