BSF attempts to erect barbed wire fence at Panchbibi border in Joypurhat, but BGB blocks it
Joypurhat Correspondent:
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has once again attempted to erect a barbed wire fence in the Ghonapara area of the Uchna border in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat, violating international border law. Later, the BSF members stopped their work and withdrew in the face of BGB’s obstruction. Earlier, BSF members had attempted to erect a barbed wire fence at that border area twice in a row.
On Saturday (December 27) morning, an attempt was made to erect this fence in the areas of sub-pillars 47, 48 and 49 of main border pillar number 281 on the East Uchna Ghonapara border under Kaya BOP of Panchbibi Upazila. When the locals came to know about the matter, they informed the BGB members of Kaya Camp under Joypurhat-20 BGB Battalion, who went to the spot and stopped the BSF. The BSF members stopped the work and left. Later, a flag meeting was held between the BGB and the BSF regarding the incident. In the meeting, the BSF assured to stop the construction of the barbed wire fence and remove the installed barbed wire fence. At the same time, the BGB also formally protested to the BSF regarding the incident.
Joypurhat-20 BGB Assistant Director Mohammad Imran Hossain said that the BSF tried to build a fence in violation of the border law. The BGB has always taken a strict stance on this issue and said that all necessary steps will be taken to protect the country’s sovereignty.
