Taskin’s sour and sweet day in IL T20
Sports Reporter :
Taskin Ahmed was seen in a different light in the IL T20 in Dubai on Monday. Taskin was excellent, classic with the new ball. Taskin was faded, harmless in the death over with the old ball. However, the Bangladesh pace star would definitely had a big smile on his face if the team won.
For Sharjah Warriors, Taskin took 2 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs. However, his bowling in the power play at the beginning of the innings was excellent.
He took 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs. He came to bowl the last over and digested four sixes. He gave away 25 runs. That changed his bowling style.
Taskin, playing IL T20 for the first time, took 8 wickets in 5 matches with a bowling average of 21.75 and an Economy of 8.70.
Batting first, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders scored 134 runs for 9 wickets. Sharjah Warriors came out to reply and secured a 4-wicket victory with the last ball of the innings. Their hero of the match was Adil Rashid with 3 wickets for 18 runs.
Taskin played the key role at the beginning of the match. But in the end, his poor bowling left him shaken. In the first over of the innings, Taskin took the wicket of Phil Salt. Salt caught him while flying the ball outside his off-stump.
In the next over, Taskin took the wicket of Alex Hales. Hales drove the ball outside his off-stump and was caught by Ethan D’Souza at cover. He came to bowl the fifth over of the power play and digested two boundaries. Even then, Taskin pocketed 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.
Then Taskin came to bowl the very last over. The Knight Riders’ run was 104 for 7 wickets. But the right-arm pacer did a really bad job at the end. Andre Russell and Jason Holder hit two sixes each in his over. That faded his bowling spell. 2 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs.
