Aman paddy harvesting begins

Harvesting of Aman (T-Aman) paddy planted for the past week has begun in full swing in four districts of Khulna region. This year, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has set a production target of 11 lakh 7 thousand 805 tons in Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Narail districts. Farmers have cultivated Aman paddy on 2 lakh 90 thousand 342 hectares of land. Which is 8 thousand 239 hectares or 2.78 percent less than the set agricultural target.
Farmers visiting the paddy fields of Batiyaghata and Dakop areas were seen busy harvesting and storing paddy from dawn to dusk. Meanwhile, the cultivation target of 97.2 percent has been achieved after the rains.
Although the planting of Aman seedlings was disrupted in the early and middle of the season due to drought.
But the production target has been exceeded. Currently, farmers are harvesting with great enthusiasm and are getting a bumper yield of paddy, which they did not even expect.
Farmers were seen busy harvesting and storing paddy from dawn to dusk in the paddy fields of Batiyaghata and Dakop areas. Meanwhile, the cultivation target has been achieved by 97.2 percent after the rains.

Farmer Abdul Mazid of Gangarampur Union of Batiyaghata Upazila of Khulna has harvested 18 maunds of Aman paddy from every bigha of land, where the yield was 17 maunds last year.
