IBFB seeks extension of loan rescheduling deadline
Business Desk :
The International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) has requested Bangladesh Bank to extend the deadline for loan rescheduling applications for distressed businesses.
In a letter sent to the governor of Bangladesh Bank, the IBFB expressed appreciation for the central bank’s circular issued on 16 September 2025 (Circular No-7 of the Banking Regulation and Policy Department), which provided relief measures for businesses facing financial difficulties, said a press release.
Under the circular, the deadline for submitting loan rescheduling applications was set for 31 December 2025.
However, citing the upcoming national parliamentary election and referendum scheduled for 12 February 2026, the IBFB said many businesses may face challenges in completing the required procedures within the stipulated time.
The business forum has therefore proposed extending the application deadline to 31 March 2026, to allow affected enterprises sufficient time to avail themselves of the rescheduling facility.
