RAB-11 has arrested Kabir, also known as “Datbhanga Kabir” (30), a close associate of Faisal Karim, the prime suspect in the attempted murder of Inqilab Mancha convener Osman Hadi.
The arrest was made in Fatullah, Narayanganj. Kabir is the son of the late Mozzaffor from the Titkata area of Bara Bigha in Patuakhali.
He had been living in the Ashwin Nagar area of Keraniganj, Dhaka.
Confirming the matter on Tuesday , RAB-11 Company Commander Lieutenant Commander Naim Ul Haque said that the arrested Kabir was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for legal proceedings.
Earlier, RAB conducted an operation around 5:00 a.m. on Monday in the Pagla area of Fatullah and arrested him.
According to RAB, during preliminary interrogation Kabir admitted that he was a key associate of the main accused, Faisal Karim Masud, in the attempt to kill Osman Hadi.
He had previously served as the joint convener of Ward No. 100 of the Adabor Thana unit of the Swechchhasebak League.
CCTV footage shows that on December 4, Kabir entered the Inqilab Cultural Center several times along with Faisal Karim Masud.
Immediately after the incident, Kabir, along with Faisal and Alamgir, went into hiding to evade arrest. RAB also stated that Kabir has links to various criminal activities.
It is worth mentioning that on Friday, December 12, at around noon, Sharif Osman bin Hadi-convener of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8-was shot while traveling in a rickshaw in the Bijoynagar area on Box Culvert Road, Puranapaltan, Dhaka.
Two men arrived on a motorcycle, and one of them opened fire before fleeing the scene. Hadi sustained serious head injuries.
