Martyred Intellectuals Day observed

People from all walks of life in the district on sunday observed the “Martyred Intellectuals’ Day” paying rich tributes to the intellectuals who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

District Administration, Press Club, Public Library, Political and socio- cultural organisations, educational institutions have organised various programmes including discussions highlighting the significance of the day.

Kishoreganj Press Club arranged discussion meeting held at its conference room on Sunday evening. Press Club President A.K Nasim Khan presided over the discussion.

Bangladesh Mohila Parishad organised a discussion meeting held at its office room, while district president advocate Maya Bhowmick in the chair. District Public Library held a discussion meeting at its conference room on Sunday evening,while management committee’s general secretary Md.Abdul Latif in the chair.

It was addressed among others, Ex- general secretary of Public Library ,also veteran Freedom Fighter Advocate Nasiruddin Farooki, Assistant Professor Shamiul Haque Mollah, and Ziaur Rahman.

The speakers recalled with great respect the supreme sacrifice of the Freedom Fighters during the liberation war. They said the Pakistani occupational and their associates killed the intellectuals of the country with a view to making the country a brainless nation.

The programme of the day included sers for the departed souls of the martyred Freedom Fighters and martyrs of the July uprising of 2024 at the mosques.
