Remittance inflows reach US$1.7b in first 2 weeks of Dec

Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 23.6 percent reaching US$1.707 million in the fourteen days of December, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued on Monday.
Last year, during the same period, the country’s remittance inflow was $1.381 billion.
Between the July to Dec 14, 2025 of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances of $14.746 billion, which was $12.519 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Earlier, Remittance inflows to Bangladesh rose by 31.34 percent year-on-year to $2.88 billion in November, marking the highest in the last six months. Bangladesh Bank’s data highlights a consistent and strong flow of remittances in recent months.
In July, expatriates sent $2.48 billion in remittances, August $2.42 billion, September $2.68 billion, October $2.56 billion.
Since the change in government, remittances through banking channels have exceeded $2 billion every month. With supply exceeding demand, the dollar rate has also fallen. For this reason, the Bangladesh Bank began purchasing dollars from commercial banks through auctions in different phases starting in July this year.
