Md. Ebadul Karim, Owner of Beacon Pharmaceuticals passes away

Md Ebadul Karim, a prominent industrialist, entrepreneur, and owner of Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC, passed away this morning at 9:00 AM, leaving behind a legacy of significant contributions to Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. He also served as a respected director of Kohinoor Chemicals, one of the country’s oldest and most trusted consumer goods manufacturers.
The namaz-e-janaza will be held after Asr prayer at the Gulshan Society Mosque, where family members, colleagues, and well-wishers are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
Md Ebadul Karim played a transformative role in expanding Bangladesh’s footprint in the global pharmaceutical market. Under his leadership, Beacon Pharmaceuticals became the first oncology medicine manufacturing company in Bangladesh, earning recognition for producing high-quality, life-saving cancer drugs at affordable prices. His vision helped the company emerge as a major exporter of specialized medicines to numerous countries across Asia and Africa.
Beyond pharmaceuticals, his contributions to the wider industrial arena were equally notable. As a director of Kohinoor Chemicals, he helped modernize production facilities, encouraged product diversification, and supported the expansion of local brands that became household names. His entrepreneurial initiatives created hundreds of jobs and strengthened Bangladesh’s manufacturing base at a time when the industry was diversifying and seeking greater global competitiveness.
