Advisers Asif, Mahfuj step down ahead of nation election

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan and Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam have submitted their resignation letters. The Chief Adviser’s office confirmed the media that they have submitted their resignation letters on Wednesday evening (December 10, 2025).

Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year, Asif had taken oath as an adviser on August 8 representing students. Initially, he served as Labour Adviser and later took responsibility as Adviser for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Local Government, and Cooperatives.

Besides, Mahfuj Alam joined the interim government as Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser with the status of Adviser on November 10, 2024 initially.

He was appointed Adviser to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on 26 February this year, following Nahid Islam’s resignation from the post to become Coordinator of the National Citizen Party.
