Singer Anushka Shankar, daughter of famous Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar, recently had a bad experience while travelling on an Air India flight.
Allegedly, due to the negligence of the airline authorities, her very beloved and important sitar was broken.
Anushka posted a video on social media expressing her anger over such an unexpected incident.
In the video, showing the broken sitar, the British artiste of Indian origin said, “This country is a country of music and culture.
But this accident happened there. This is the first time I have flown on an Air India flight and this is the first time I have experienced such a thing. I’m truly devastated.”
The multiple Grammy-nominated artiste also said that in her 17-year career, she has never had such an incident. No musical instrument has ever been so damaged.
She alleged that she had paid extra money as a ‘special handling charge’ to ensure that the sitar reached its destination properly.
She questioned why Air India showed such negligence even after charging that cost.
Anushka captioned the video, “My beloved sitar has broken due to such irresponsible behavior of Air India. This is only a result of negligence.”
Anushka’s video quickly went viral on social media and drew a storm of criticism. Celebrities like Zakir Khan and Vishal Dadlani commented on the video.
