2 accused killed at Khulna court

Miscreants hacked and shot dead two accused in broad daylight on the premises of Khulna Metropolitan Court.

The incident, which occurred around 12 noon on Sunday, spread panic across the area.

The deceased were identified as Fazle Rabbi Rajan of RupshaBagmara and Hasib Howlader of Notun Bazar Launch Ghat MinaraGoli area, who were accused in a weapons case filed by Sonadanga Police Station.

Eyewitnesses said that as the two accused were leaving the court after appearing in court, some miscreants opened fire on them and hacked them with sharp weapons and fled quickly. Hasib died on the spot.

The seriously injured Rajan was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where EMO Dr. Shamimuzzaman declared him dead.

Khulna Sadar Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news of one of the deceased. The death of the other was confirmed by the EMO of Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Police said they are collecting CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers and investigating the incident.
