‘BNP will prioritise the neglected if voted to power’
Mymensingh Correspondent :
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince has said that the determination he is witnessing in the eyes of rural people, and their unwavering trust in the paddy-sheaf symbol, is truly extraordinary.
“Just as we have had a bumper harvest of paddy this season, the February elections will also see a bumper vote in favour of the paddy-sheaf,” he said.
He was speaking at an impromptu street meeting at Mission Road junction in Haluaghat town this evening.
Earlier, from Friday afternoon, he walked through various parts of Haluaghat Bazar from the paddy wholesale area to the high school meeting residents, traders, sellers and buyers.
During the campaign, he distributed leaflets outlining Tarique Rahman’s 31-point agenda, BNP’s future welfare programmes, and his own plans for the development of Haluaghat and Dobaura.
He said, “We must take full preparation now for the upcoming February elections.
On polling day, there should be long queues at the voting centres queues symbolising the renewal of the people’s ownership of this country.
This ownership, which the Awami League government had taken away from the people, must be restored.
The people are ready. The time for change has come. The time has come to restore democracy.”
Expressing gratitude for the affection shown by the people of Haluaghat and Dobaura, he said that if the BNP comes to power, improving the living standards of the neglected farmers, labourers, the poor and marginalised communities of the region will be the first priority.
