Music: Band members shouldn’t sing solo songs: Partha
Entertainment Report :
The vocalist plays an important role in a band. His voice brings the band’s songs to life. The audience easily recognises a band through the vocalist. Therefore, the band’s vocal artiste or vocalist easily becomes popular than the other members. Taking advantage of this opportunity, many artistes sing in mixed albums outside the band. Some also make solo albums.
However, vocalist of band ‘Souls’ Partha Barua believes that band members should not sing solo songs. Partha recently appeared as a guest on a TV channel’s ‘Nineties Music Story’ programme, which tells the story of bands from the 1990s.
He talked about various topics including how he joined ‘Souls’ as a keyboardist and later became a main artiste, recording at that time, studio culture, and songwriting.
Partha Barua said, “I believe that the artiste of the band should not sing separately in any way. Because, no matter who is in a band, there are four or five people, everyone has an effort. The one who sings is the frontliner. Everyone knows the frontliner more.
That is why the vocalist becomes popular first. The greed for fame is a terrible thing. If he separates from the band (in the hope of more fame) and makes a mixed album or a solo career, the band will suffer. There is no disagreement about this.”
Partha has also sung in mixed albums outside the band. He said that he sang in mixed albums to earn extra money. However, according to him, it is not right for artists to release solo songs while in the band. In this regard, Partha said, “I could have earned some money by singing in mixed albums. That is why I did it. Although I have some good songs in mixed albums but I have never done a solo album. I had a pretty good offer at that time.
If I had done a solo album at that time, I would have gotten a lot of money. What I believe is that I got recognition by singing for ‘Souls’. My income is already a little more than the other members, where is the fault in controlling myself?”
With the evolution of time, the number of audio production companies has decreased. Artistes are releasing songs on their own YouTube channels.
