Nazrul urges recruiters to fully adopt new platform

Staff Reporter :

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has called on recruiting agencies, training centres and overseas employers to fully adopt the newly launched Overseas Employment Platform (OEP), describing it as a critical tool to ensure safe, ethical and dignified labour migration for Bangladeshi workers.

Speaking at the OEP launching ceremony at a Dhaka hotel this afternoon, Dr. Nazrul urged all stakeholders to “fully utilise the platform” and maintain the highest ethical standards while sending workers abroad.

He stressed that migrant workers are “the pride of the nation” and that their contribution to Bangladesh’s economy is “invaluable.”

He said ensuring a safe, protected and dignified migration process is the government’s responsibility, and the OEP represents a major step forward in fulfilling that duty. Calling the platform a “milestone” in Bangladesh’s labour migration system, Dr. Nazrul said the initiative aims to bring greater transparency, efficiency and accountability across the recruitment chain.
The government, he added, wants the OEP to reach “every household in the country” so that aspiring migrants can make informed and secure decisions.

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Senior Secretary Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan said the digital platform marks a transformative phase in Bangladesh’s effort to ensure safe and efficient overseas employment. Designed as a one-stop service portal, the OEP integrates a wide range of migration-related services into a single, user-friendly interface.

According to Dr. Bhuiyan, the platform gives migrant workers direct access to verified job opportunities, real-time application updates, skills development pathways and streamlined government procedures — all aimed at reducing exploitation and lowering migration costs. He said the system modernises the recruitment process while bolstering the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of expatriate workers.

The OEP was officially launched earlier in the day. Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Director Max Tunon and Swiss Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Diepak Elmer also spoke at the event, highlighting the platform’s potential to reshape Bangladesh’s labour migration landscape.
