Human chain formed in Kishorgeanj

Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj :

The promotion of lecturers from the 32nd batch of the BCS general education cadre to the 37th batch has been stalled for 17 months.

However, their students have been promoted to other cadres after completing their studies, said the teacher leaders with regret.

They have been observing a nationwide strike under the ‘No Promotion, No Work’ program since Sunday until they are promoted.

On Monday, for the second day, 17 lecturers of Kishoreganj Government Women’s College and 51 lecturers of Government Gurudayal College formed a human chain by observing a strike.

During this, the convener of the college branch of the BCS (General Education) Lecturer Council.

Lecturer of the Department of Social Work, Jyotirmoy Deb, and Member Secretary, Lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, Mahmudul Hasan Pias, addressed the human chain in front of the Government Women’s College.

They said that a total of 2,399 lecturers from batches 32 to 37 across the country have been deprived of promotions.

However, in many cadres, their batch officers have received up to two promotions.

Even many students of these lecturers have received promotions by taking jobs in other cadres.

As a result, the teacher leaders have announced that the strike will continue until the lecturers’ demand for promotion is met.

At this time, college students also expressed solidarity with the teachers’ movement.
