EWU hosts day-long Job Fair

East West University (EWU) hosted a day-long ‘Job Fair’ on Saturday, connecting thousands of aspiring graduates with 70 leading national and multinational organisations.
The event was by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources at the EWU campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, says a press release.
In his address, Mr. Khan called on the youths to enter politics, stressing the critical need for ethical leadership.”There is a need for honest people in the politics of Bangladesh. I urge honest individuals to build their careers in politics,” said Mr. Khan. He also advised students to focus on innovation and entrepreneurship rather than solely pursuing job opportunities.Stating that global demand has shifted: “The demand for skillnessis increasing than the degrees. What I can do is more important than the degree I have achieved.” He called on young people to generate wealth through production and innovation rather than lobbying or pursuing undue advantage.Barrister Nihad Kabir, Former President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), Dhaka, and Special Guest at the event, highlighted the fair’s value, calling it a “great opportunity” for students to choose their desired career paths and learn details about their preferred organizations, as well as the opportunity for the employers too.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (EWU) and former Governor of the Bangladesh Bank, emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship for national development. He asserted that the government should prioritize creating and nurturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to reduce poverty and inequality in the country.
