35 crude bombs seized in Dhaka

Staff reporter :

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday uncovered a crude bomb-making setup inside Geneva Camp in the capital’s Mohammadpur area, seizing 35 crude bombs and a large cache of bomb-making materials.

Assistant Commissioner of DMP (Mohammadpur Zone) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the recovery, saying the explosives and raw materials were found on the rooftop of a building.
Police sources said the bombs were being manufactured in a building next to the residence of suspected drug kingpin Bunia Sohel in Block 7 of Geneva Camp.

No arrests have been made yet, and a police operation is ongoing.
Earlier, on 12 November, RAB recovered six petrol bombs and four crude bombs from the Rayerbazar Intellectuals’ Graveyard area.

A series of crude bomb blasts have recently been reported across Dhaka.
To reinforce security, 12 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are currently patrolling the capital. The government deployed the paramilitary force after a rise in vehicle arson incidents by miscreants.

BGB spokesperson Shariful Islam said the platoons have been stationed at key points including Hotel Intercontinental, Mymensingh Road, Mirpur Road, Rokeya Sarani, Airport, Abdullahpur, Kakrail, Shishu Academy, the High Court area, and other major routes.

Previously, 14 platoons of BGB were deployed across Dhaka and adjoining districts to help maintain law and order.
