N’ganj youth sentenced to life term

A court in Narayanganj’s Rupganj has sentenced a 23-year-old youth named Fahim to life imprisonment in a drug-related case.

The court also fined him Tk 50,000, with an additional two years in prison in default of payment.

On Monday (November 10), Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Shamim Azad delivered the verdict.

The convict, Fahim, son of Nasir Mia from Chanpara area in Rupganj, was present in court when the judgment was announced.

According to Narayanganj court police inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan, on May 16, 2024, police arrested Fahim from Chanpara in Rupganj with 540 packets of heroin.

A case was filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act. After a full investigation, the charges were proven, and the judge handed down the life sentence along with the fine.
