Islamic Solidarity Games: Marjia Akter earns 3 bronze medals

Marjia Akter of Bangladesh earned three bronze medals in Women’s 53kg Weightlifting event of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games at Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia on Saturday night. Marjia grabbed one medal in Snatch, one medal in Clean & Jerk, one medal in Total (overall combined) . She finished third in that three categories.

As no Shooting and Archery events were not included in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, Bangladesh had not a good chance to earn any medal. But Marjia gained prestige for the red-and-green out-fit.

Jansel Ozken of Turkiye clinched gold, while Basilia of Indonesia bagged silver in this event.
Marjia lifted 72kg in Snatch, lifted 91kg in Clean & Jerk and lifted 163kg in Total (overall combined). Marjia is an athlete of Bangladesh Army.

Mosammat Bristy of Bangladesh finished fifth in the 48kg category in Weightlifting, while Ashikur Rahman finished sixth in 60kg category in also Weightlifting.

The Islamic Solidarity Games will come to an end on November 21.

Bangladesh bagged altogether 10 medals in total Islamic Solidarity Games, so far. Bangladesh clichéd one silver medal, two bronze medals in Archery in Turkiye Islamic Solidarity Games in 2022, Bangladesh bagged one gold, one silver, one bronze in Shooting and one bronze in Wrestling in Azerbaijan in 2017.
