Asian Archery Chams begins today

The Asian Archery Championships will begin today. The gala extravaganza will be held at the National Stadium in the capital’s Paltan and at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital’s Banani. A total of 209 archers from 30 countries will take part in the archery competition.

Of them, 92 female archers will compete in the mega tournament. 54 female archers will compete in the recurve event, while 38 female archers will fight in the compound event. A number of 80 officials and 17 guests also participate in the archery competition. The gala competition will come to an end on November 14.

Earlier, the archers took part in their practice sessions at the National Stadium and Tongi Archery Complex in Gazipur.

India and China were interested to host this competition. But Bangladesh got highest vote to host the prestigious international competition. Bangladesh Government has given all sorts of cooperation to Bangladesh Archery Federation. City Group is the sponsor of the mega championships.

Earlier, Bangladesh Archery Federation arranged the Asian Archery Championship in 2017 and 2021. This is for the third time Bangladesh Archery Federation is going to this international archery meet.

Coach of Bangladesh Archery team Martin Frederick said, ” I have confidence for the performance of my girls and boys. They are eager to cut a brilliant figure in this competition.”

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of Asian Archery Championship Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol said, ” I hope Bangladesh will get success. If they can reach the semi-finals, they can also take place in the final.”
