BGMEA signs MoU with BBCC to boost garment exports

Business Desk :

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) to promote garment exports and strengthen trade and investment ties between Bangladesh and Canada.

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka, with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and BBCC President Alamgir M. Rahman formally signing the agreement. The event was attended by senior BGMEA officials, including First Vice President Selim Rahman, Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice Presidents Md. Rezoan Selim and Mizanur Rahman, and other directors.

During the ceremony, Mahmud Hasan Khan emphasized that the MoU with BBCC would help Bangladesh’s garment industry explore new opportunities in Canada and the wider North American market. He highlighted that the agreement aims to strengthen economic relations between the two countries through enhanced trade, investment, and knowledge sharing.

According to BGMEA, under the MoU, both organizations will work to build closer communication among members, organize joint trade fairs and exhibitions in Bangladesh and Canada, and facilitate visits by business delegations. The partnership will also focus on knowledge sharing, training, and skill development for entrepreneurs and professionals, while creating investment opportunities in the garment, textile, and related sectors. Additionally, the initiative is expected to encourage partnerships, joint ventures, and collaboration among members of both organizations.

BGMEA believes that this collaboration will open new avenues for Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry in international markets, enhancing both export potential and bilateral economic ties.
