‘Bay Terminal to begin operations by 2030’
Chattagram Bureau :
Chattagram Port Authority (CPA) Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman said, our target is to take ‘Terminal-1’ of Bay Terminal into operation by 2030. If we can start work by the middle of next year, I think it is possible.
He said these things while briefing reporters after a meeting related to Bay Terminal at the port’s Shaheed Md. Fazlur Rahman Auditorium on Monday.
The port chairman said, all the projects we have undertaken have been 100 percent compliant with the guidelines of public-private partnership.
There is unprecedented progress. I hope I will be able to show you a success story in the next few months.
In response to a question, he said, two types of ships, container and general cargo, can be handled at the multipurpose terminal. Gear vessels are gradually increasing.
Thinking realistically about the future, we need to keep the opportunity for gearless vessel operations at the terminal.
The port chairman said, “World-class consulting firms are working on each of our projects in terms of market business, financial return, social, environmental, etc.
Hopefully, the project we will do will be a source of pride for the nation. We will work with a centennial target.
You will see that the Bay Terminal is a wave of manufacturing investment in Bangladesh. Big companies of the world are contacting us to invest here.”
