The administration has once again removed the weirs illegally installed in Chatmohar of Pabna, which were blocking the natural flow of water.
On Saturday, UpazilaNirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Musa Naser Chowdhury led an operation to remove the illegal weirs from Dikshi Beel in the Nirbahi. During the drive, nets used in the weirs were seized.
Senior Nirbahi Fisheries Officer Md Abdul Matin stated that the weirs were removed as they were unlawfully installed, obstructing the water flow in Dikshi Beel.
He added that a group of unscrupulous individuals was involved in this illegal activity. Later, the seized nets were publicly burned.
Present during the operation were Senior Nirbahi Fisheries Officer Md A Matin, Pashrandanga and Mulgram Union Administrators, Nirbahi Social Service Officer Md Sohel Rana, Nirbahi Rural Development Officer Md Ahsanul Habib, as well as members of the Thana Police and Ansar.
This season, the administration has removed several such illegal dams from various beels, rivers, and water bodies across the Nirbahi.
Nirbahi Executive Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury said that the drive will continue.
