BNP’s Milon seeks govt explanation over travel bar

BNP leader and former state minister for education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon on Friday called on the government to clarify why he was barred from leaving the country for medical treatment.

Milon said that while he was preparing to fly to Bangkok for treatment on Thursday morning, immigration officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport informed him that a travel ban had been imposed on him.

Speaking at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club, he said he sought an explanation from the authorities but received no clear response.

“I would like to know from the government why I was prevented from travelling abroad.

This administration came to power following the historic mass uprising of 2024. My party, the BNP, has supported Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and his interim government from the outset,” he said.

Milon expressed confidence that the current government would not be swayed by misinformation or conspiracies from any quarter.

“I trust that the government will take appropriate measures to safeguard the constitutional, civil, and human rights of every citizen, myself included,” he added.

The former state minister emphasized that he has always been loyal to the state and dedicated to upholding the rule of law. “I am willing to extend my full cooperation to the government for the greater good of the nation and its people,” he said.
