the Sylhet Chamber elections will be held on November 1.
According to High Court sources, Kamrul Hamid and others filed a writ petition (No. 17623/2025) under Article 102 of the Constitution against the order to postpone the elections. The writ was filed by their lawyer Advocate Md. Ismail Hossain. The writ was raised in the High Court court on October 28.
Earlier, when the elections were postponed on the orders of the Ministry of Commerce, the Combined Business Council held a procession and submitted a memorandum to the Sylhet District Commissioner’s office on Monday (October 27) demanding the withdrawal of the suspension order.
The leaders had then said that there was a possibility of holding the elections if the complaint made to the Ministry of Commerce was withdrawn. Later, the way to hold the elections was paved by the court’s order.
