Event: Raihan Rafi, Alimuzzaman receive Fazlul Haque Memorial Awards

It was announced earlier that this year’s Fazlul Haque Memorial Award will be given to filmmaker Raihan Rafi and journalist Alimuzzaman.
The award, initiated by novelist Rabeya Khatun, was presented to them at a ceremony on Sunday. Each of them received a crest and Tk50,000 as awards and was given an Uttariyo.
The awards were presented to them by Shilpakala Academy Director General Poet Rezauddin Stalin, producer Matin Rahman, actor Afzal Hossain, chef Keka Ferdousi and Prokriti O Jibon Foundation Chairman Mukit Majumder Babu, said a press release.
A special programme was organised on Channel i to mark the award giving ceremony.
A documentary on Fazlul Haque was shown at the beginning of the program. Then the discussion began.
Matin Rahman, Rezauddin Stalin, Mukit Majumder Babu, Keka Ferdousi, Afzal Hossain, actress and director Afsana Mimi, musician Khurshid Alam, director Chhatku Ahmed, actor Keramat Maula, Anyaprakash CEO Mazharul Islam, among others, took part in the discussion.
The speakers expressed hope that Fazlul Haque would be evaluated at the national level.
Director General of Shilpakala Academy said that arrangements will be made to screen the documentary made on Fazlul Haque in branches of the Shilpakala Academy across the country.
After the discussion, the award was handed over to producer Raihan Rafi and journalist Alimuzzaman.
Raihan Rafi was accompanied by his mother. She sought everyone’s blessings for her son’s award.
It is worth noting that this award has been given for the past 22 years in memory of the late Fazlul Haque, the editor of the country’s first film magazine ‘Cinema’ and the director of Bangladesh’s first children’s film ‘Son of Pakistan (President)’.
