Implementation of the July Charter Must Precede Any Election: Sarjis Alam
Tangail Correspondent:
Chief Organizer of the Northern Region of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Sarjis Alam, has said that the interim government cannot hold a national election without first ensuring the implementation of the July Charter.
He made the remarks while talking to reporters on Monday morning following a coordination meeting of the district unit of the NCP held at the Tangail Press Club.
“We have sought the ‘Shapla’ (Water Lily) symbol, and there is no legal barrier to obtaining it,” Sarjis Alam said, adding that the NCP will participate in the upcoming national parliamentary election under that symbol.
Regarding alliance politics, he said, “If other political parties agree with our demands, including justice for those killed in July, we have no objection to forming an alliance.”
Earlier, at the coordination meeting held in the Tangail Press Club auditorium, discussions were held on the party’s preparations for the forthcoming national election, organizational activities, and directives for leaders and activists.
The meeting was presided over by Masudur Rahman Russell, Chief Coordinator of Tangail District NCP. Among the special guests were Saiful Islam, Central Committee Member, and Saifullah Haider, Organizing Secretary for Dhaka Division.
