Youth must be driven by innovation, entrepreneurship: Edu Adviser

Education Adviser Prof Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar on Sunday said the young generation should not only aspire to be job seekers but also be driven by innovation, entrepreneurship, and moral leadership.
Mentioning that education is not an expense but an investment in peace, prosperity, and human resources, Dr Abrar said, “The Bangladesh government is undertaking education reform programmes prioritising equality, quality enhancement, and digital transformation.”
“We want to build an education system that will make students world-class, skilled, creative, and innovative citizens,” he added.
He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the 37th Convocation of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).
At this convocation, as many as 522 students from 36 member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) received graduate and postgraduate degrees from the university.
The Education Adviser also remembered the students and alumni who lost their lives in the July 2024 movement, paying tribute to their sacrifice, reports BSS.
Addressing the graduating students, he said, “Your education is a trust – use it for the welfare of humanity, in the path of morality and innovation.
Let faith be your guidance, knowledge be your light, and compassion be your strength.”
Dr Abrar highlighted that IUT is the only international university in Bangladesh established by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – a matter of pride for the nation.
He assured that the Bangladesh government will continue to stand by IUT, providing full support for its development and success.
Representatives of the OIC, diplomats, teachers, guardians, and students from OIC member countries attended the event.
Among others, Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher has been elected as Assistant Secretary General (ASG) for Science and Technology of the OIC, Professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman (Convocation Speaker), and IUT Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, were present at the ceremony.
