DC strict warning against illegal establishments, ticket black marketing in Sylhet
Sylhet Bureau :
Strict action will be taken against the black marketing of railway tickets and illegal establishments in Sylhet, said Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet (DC) Md. Sarwar Alam.
He said, “There is no opportunity to sublet government houses or establishments (renting them to third parties). Action will be taken against those who do so. There will be no illegal establishments in Sylhet city. All illegal establishments, including railways, will be demolished in phases.”
DC Sarwar Alam warned, “No broker gang or ticket black market will be tolerated at the railway station. Strict action will be taken against them.”
He said these words while visiting the scene of the train accident near Moglabazar railway station on Tuesday (October 7) morning.
Earlier, four coaches including the train engine derailed in the accident at around 7 am. Several passengers were injured. Rescue and repair work began quickly with the help of the fire service, local people and railway workers. After about two and a half hours, a line was able to be activated at 9:30 am and the Kalni Express train from Sylhet to Dhaka resumed its journey from Moglabazar. Currently, rail communication with Sylhet is normal across the country.
Meanwhile, two railway officials have been suspended on charges of negligence of duty after the accident and two separate investigation committees have been formed. Both the committees have been instructed to submit reports within the next three days.
After visiting the spot, Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam said, “The issue of the train accident is being investigated seriously. We have formed two investigation committees in this regard. In addition, we have talked to the railways about increasing the number of trains and coaches to reduce the suffering of Sylhet passengers.”
