Mirza Fakhrul informed Humayun contest elections in Sylhet
SA Shofiee, Sylhet:
Finally, all speculations are over, Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs advisor to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, will contest elections. The news of the election of this internationally renowned BNP leader has spread a flood of happiness in his home area of Sylhet-2 constituency, Bishwanath-Osmani Nagar.
Along with this, leaders and activists across Sylhet are also excited. The information about his election was publicly announced by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The veteran leader gave this information during an introduction session during a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Gwen Lewis at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan today, Sunday.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul Islam said that from now on, Humayun Kabir will stay in the country and will contest elections.
In response, the UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka said that he knows about this matter. And he also knows from which constituency who is being taken over.
At that time, pointing to Humayun Kabir, he also said that he also knows that the next Foreign Minister is coming from Sylhet.
At the beginning of the meeting, a video showed these discussions taking place during the introduction of the two parties.
Humayun Kabir’s village home is actually in Osmani Nagar, Sylhet. However, he has spent most of his life in Britain. However, after becoming the foreign affairs advisor to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, he gained some recognition in Bangladeshi politics. Due to this, his recognition has increased somewhat in Sylhet as well.
When he started campaigning for the election in Sylhet-2 constituency a few months ago, there has been a lot of commotion. Basically, this constituency is known as ‘Ilias Ali’s base’. In Ilias’ absence, his wife Tahsina Rushdi Luna was expected to get the party nomination here. But since Humayun Kabir entered the field, that perception gradually began to change.
