BNP Plans 10 Million Jobs in 18 Months: Amir Khasru

Tangail Correspondent:

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has announced that the party has developed a plan to create employment for 10 million people within 18 months if elected to power.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday evening (October 1) during a visit to the Puja Mandap near Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur, Tangail, Khasru said, “We have taken up a massive employment plan. If the people give us the mandate, we will recover lost industrial jobs and create new employment opportunities. We’ve also worked out detailed strategies for self-employment in different sectors and how to implement them.”

Addressing a question on the proportional representation (PR) system, Khasru said, “Anyone can demand PR—that’s their democratic right. But it’s not up to BNP or any individual party to grant it. If there is a demand beyond the national consensus, it must go to the people, and a fresh mandate must be obtained through elections to bring it to Parliament.”

On the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, he stated, “There is no alternative to holding the election in February. The country needs a government and parliament accountable to the people. Without that bridge between government and citizens, we face serious governance challenges.”

Khasru was accompanied by BNP’s former MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, Assistant Secretary for Cultural Affairs Saidur Rahman Said Sohrab, Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, and General Secretary Advocate Farhad Iqbal.
