The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organised a new membership drive and renewal programme in Savar.
The programme was arranged on Sunday in the Imandipur area under the initiative of BNP’s Ward No. 7 of Savar Municipality.
The event was presided over by Md. Abdus Samad, Senior Vice-President of Ward No. 7 BNP, and conducted by Md. Omar Ali Dawar, General Secretary of Ward No. 7 BNP.
The chief guest was Shah Mainul Hossain Biltu, Senior Vice-President of Dhaka District BNP and President of Savar Municipality BNP.
In his speech as the chief guest, Biltu said, “To strengthen the BNP, the organisation must be further consolidated at the grassroots level.
Through new membership drives and the renewal of existing members, we are working to achieve this goal.
New members will be recruited and existing memberships renewed in every ward of the upazila following a thorough verification process.
This programme is not only about increasing the number of members but also about ensuring people’s participation in the movement to restore democracy.”
He further added, “Do not enrol as members those who are politically, socially, or locally controversial.
Membership should only be given to those who believe in the ideals of the BNP, in the ideology of our leader Begum Khaleda Zia, in the ideals of our leader Tarique Rahman, and in the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism.
Those who have never been involved with any other political party should begin their political journey with BNP. However, avoid recruiting any controversial individuals, as doing so may bring controversy upon yourselves.”
Special guests at the event included Md. Ibrahim Mia, Senior Vice-President of Savar Municipality BNP; Abdul Kader, former President of Ward No. 7 BNP; Ferdous Ahmed Pradeep, Vice-President of Savar Municipality BNP; Nazmul Alam Khan, Senior Joint General Secretary of Savar Municipality BNP; Abdullah Hossain Yusuf, Member Secretary of Savar Municipality Volunteer Wing; along with leaders and activists from various upazila and local BNP affiliates.
