A truck lost control on the Dhaka–Narayanganj Link Road and broke
through the railing of an overpass, leaving it hanging dangerously. In the
incident, a rickshaw-puller named Mohor Uddin (35) was crushed
beneath the vehicle and killed. The accident occurred on Monday
(September 29) afternoon in Bhuyighar, under Sadar upazila.
After the crash, the truck driver and his assistant fled the scene. Several
other passengers inside the truck were injured and rushed to different
hospitals.
Eyewitnesses and locals said that around 1:30 p.m., during heavy
rainfall, an empty goods truck was speeding from Chashara towards
Signboard via the Link Road. The reckless truck lost control near
Bhuyighar Bus Stand, rammed into the west side of the flyover, and fell
onto the road below. As the railing broke, it struck rickshaw-puller
Mohor Ali on the head, leaving him critically injured.
Bystanders rescued him and rushed him in serious condition to Dhaka
Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead shortly after
arrival. His head had been badly crushed.
Faruk Ahmed, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the
death:
“A man named Mohor Uddin, injured in a road accident, was brought to
the hospital. Around 3:30 p.m., he died while undergoing treatment. His
body has been kept in the morgue.”
Additional Police Superintendent of Narayanganj, Md. Hasinuzzaman,
said “One person named Mohor has died in the accident. We have not
received information about other casualties yet. The truck has been
removed from the road. The driver and his assistant fled, but efforts are
underway to trace and arrest them. Proper legal action will be taken after
investigation.”
