New voters will battle killers in coming polls: Jamaat
Staff Reporter :
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General, Mia Golam Parwar, has claimed that the upcoming national elections will be a decisive battle between new voters and what he described as “killers, extortionists, and thugs.”
Addressing a student and youth rally in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila on Friday morning, Porwar expressed confidence that the youth who have rejected fascism in the past will not make mistakes when choosing the country’s future leadership.
Speaking as the chief guest at the rally organized by Dumuria Upazila Jamaat, held at Dumuria Swadhinata Chattar, Parwar stated, “If Jamaat is given the opportunity to serve the country, it will resolve unemployment issues and work to build a happy, prosperous, and humanitarian Bangladesh.”
Addressing local concerns, Parwar highlighted the ongoing waterlogging crisis in Dumuria and Phultala, blaming the problem on the silted Dakatiya Beel. He pledged a comprehensive master plan to address it.
He further added that Dumuria would be developed into a business hub and that transformative plans would be implemented to improve both educational and religious institutions. Promising employment after graduation, he also committed to introducing unemployment allowances for those unable to secure jobs and expanding vocational training to boost economic growth.
Speaking at the event as a special guest, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Rafiqur Islam Khan emphasized inclusivity, stating, “If Jamaat comes to power, not only Muslims but people of all religions, including women, will receive equal dignity.” He urged all to support candidates of the Islami Alliance led by Jamaat in the upcoming election.
Shafiqul Islam Masud, Secretary of Dhaka South City Jamaat, refuted long-standing allegations against the party, saying, “Even after 54 years of independence, no one has been able to prove that Jamaat attacked minorities or grabbed their properties.” He accused the ruling Awami League of spreading anti-Jamaat propaganda for the past decade and a half and warned that patriotic students and citizens would give a fitting response in the upcoming election.
Jahidul Islam, Central President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, echoed the theme of youth responsibility, stating, “The young generation will not repeat past mistakes that led to the rise of fascism in Bangladesh.” He called on first-time voters to support the ‘scales’—Jamaat’s election symbol—for a future free from unemployment and built on equality.
The rally was presided over by Dumuria Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Mukhtar Hossain and conducted by Acting Secretary Maulana Abdur Rashid. Other speakers included Jamaat Central Executive Member and Khulna Regional Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad, Khulna City Jamaat Ameer Mahfuzur Rahman, Khulna District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, Dumuria Upazila Jamaat Hindu Committee President Krishna Nandi and General Secretary Debprasad, Khulna District Jamaat Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Chhatra Shibir Central Leader Muhammad Noman Hossain, and Khulna District Chhatra Shibir President Abu Yusuf Fakir.
