Dengue claims 5 more lives

Health authorities on Wednesday confirmed that dengue infections have taken five more lives in the last 24 hours, with 668 new cases recorded across the country.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the fresh cases, 158 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 106 in Chattogram, 126 in Dhaka division outside the capital, 73 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 94 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 41 in Khulna, 30 in Mymensingh, 35 in Rajshahi and five in Rangpur. So far this year, dengue has caused 187 deaths and infected 43,841 people nationwide. By comparison, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 individuals in Bangladesh last year.
