Charmonai Pir and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim on Monday said country’s people, including students, made their supreme sacrifices in the July Uprising not for an election only and transfer of state-power.

“Their sacrifice was for permanently save the country from the grip of dictatorship, remove the 54-year-long tyranny, corruption, ensure the balance of power, voting rights and accountability everywhere, and establish the respect and dignity of all citizens,” he told at a press conference at the IAB central office here this afternoon.

“Statements and behaviour of a political party is like that the July movement was only for the transfer of power,” he said without mentioning name of any political party.

“Only election without any reform and justice will lead the country back to the old evil political order,” he feared saying July warriors and families of the martyrs cannot accept this situation at all.

He disagreed with some political parties to implement the reform agenda after the election. “We found same consensus among the political parties in 1990.

But those commitment were fully ignored after the election,” he said.
He demanded the government for making the July National Charter legal under the constitutional framework or referendum.

Calling for speedy trial of the fascists, Mufti Rezaul Karim said the crimes committed by the Awami League are not the misdeeds of any misguided political party. But, it is a well-organized crime like that of Mafia circle.
