Sadik Kayem, newly elected Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), emphasized unity beyond ideological lines, saying that everyone will collaborate. He added, “The students’ expectations are ours as well. We will transform the campus into a dream campus.” He also noted that the rival candidates who contested the election with him will serve as advisers, offering guidance throughout his tenure.
Kayem reflected that the July revolution began at Dhaka University and expressed optimism that Bangladesh’s future aspirations will be shaped from the campus. He extended condolences to the family of the journalist who died while performing duties during the DUCSU polls and expressed gratitude to all members of the media.
The new DUCSU leadership—Kayem, and SM Farhad, who won the General Secretary (GS) post—addressed the media on Wednesday, September 10, at a press conference in the Dhaka University Senate Building following the announcement of the results by the Chief Returning Officer.
