‘Govt will overcome all snags to complete polls’

Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industry and Housing, said the government has carried out the responsibilities expected of any administration that comes to power after a mass uprising. Despite various challenges and obstacles, the government is moving forward with the strength of the people.

Therefore, overcoming all barriers, and in continuation of justice and reforms, this government will complete the upcoming February elections. These elections will be free and fair. People across the country are eagerly waiting to celebrate the election in a festive atmosphere.

The interim government has already initiated several reforms, and the newly elected government will carry those efforts forward.

Speaking as the chief guest on Sunday (September 7) at the Meghnaghat area in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, during the handover ceremony of a Turkish-owned cargo vessel built at Ananda Shipyard, the adviser made these remarks.

Adilur Rahman further stated that after the garment industry, shipbuilding has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in Bangladesh. This industry is climbing higher day by day, and the interim government will introduce specific laws to support it. The next elected government will continue this progress.

He added: “We want people to proudly say that Bangladeshi ships are not only contributing to trade but also advancing in defense. Therefore, we congratulate Ananda Shipyard and the export-oriented shipbuilding sector for their achievements, and we encourage them to expand further.”

Also addressing the event were Turkish Ambassador Billah, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Nuruzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam, and Dr. Abdul Barik, Chairman of Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Limited, along with senior officials of the company.

Later, the shipyard officially handed over a newly built multipurpose cargo ship named Wedge Wire, with a capacity of 5,500 DWT, to the Turkish-owned company. According to Ananda Shipyard officials, the 331-foot-long vessel is capable of transporting food grains as well as a wide range of cargo.
