BSF pushes in 3 women across Meherpur border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has allegedly pushed a Bangladeshi woman and her two daughters across the Dariapur border in Mujibnagar upazila of Meherpur.
On Friday morning, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained the three after they crossed into Bangladeshi territory and handed them over to Mujibnagar police.
The detainees were identified as Momota Begum (60), wife of Abdus Salam from Bagerhat, and her daughters Moyna Begum (30) and Mahinur (25).
Momota told police that she had been living in Haryana, India, for the past 30 years, where her daughters were also married. Recently, Indian police arrested them and handed them over to BSF.
According to her, BSF personnel removed part of the barbed-wire fence and forced them to enter Bangladesh on Friday morning.
Police sources confirmed that the three were detained inside Bangladesh near International Border Pillar 112/3S.
Mujibnagar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said they have contacted Bagerhat police to verify the family’s address. Once confirmed, the detainees will be handed over to their relatives.
