Bangladesh Under-17 Women’s Football team took sweet revenge over champions India Under-17 Women’s Football team by 4-3 goals in their last match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-17 Championship at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan on Sunday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh finished runners-up in the meet.
Earlier, India beat Bangladesh by two goals to nil in their first leg match at the same venue recently.
Bangladesh led the first half 2-1.
Purnima Marma put her team ahead by a header using a long pass of her teammate Mamoni Chakma in the first minute of the play.
After nine minutes, Anushka of India leveled the margin by an angular shot.
Alpi Akter of Bangladesh made it 2-1 in the 34th minute of the game. After the intervals, Sauravi Akanda Prity of Bangladesh increased the tally by scoring a goal using a long pass of her teammate in the 46th minute of the clash.
Pretika Barman of India found the net after hitting a volley over the Bangladeshi goalie Meghla Rani in the 65th minute of the game. Julan Nong Maythem of India equalized the margin by a long-range shot in the 89th minute of the match.
Sauravi Akanda Prity struck the match-winning goal in the injury time of the second half.
Earlier, Anushka’s shot bounced back after touching the crosspiece in the seventh minute of the game.
Champions India collected 15 points from six matches, while runners-up Bangladesh gained 13 points from as many outings.
