16 Rohingyas held on Baralekha border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 16 illegal Rohingya citizens, including women and children, and 3 illegal Bangladeshi citizens from the Kumarsail tea garden area on the border of Baralekha upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The BSF had illegally pushed them into Bangladesh.

The detainees have been handed over to the police station. The BGB said that among the detainees, there are 3 Bangladeshi citizens including women and children and 13 Rohingya citizens including women and children.

The detained Bangladeshi nationals are Abdullah’s wife Khadija Begum (22), children Yasin (5) and Toha (2) from Chakdhala village in Naikshangchhari upazila of Bandarban district. The Rohingya nationals are Halima Khatun from Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
