Unidentified body recovered from wetland

Police have recovered the floating body of an unidentified man from a beel (wetland) in Tangail’s Nagarpur upazila.

According to police sources, the body was recovered from Konra Beel in Mokna Union of the upazila. In the initial inquest report, police estimated the deceased to be between 50 and 60 years old.

Locals said a resident who had gone fishing in the beel, as part of his daily routine, noticed the body entangled in water hyacinths. He then informed a local union parishad (UP) member, who subsequently notified the police. UP member Afzal confirmed the incident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nagarpur Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam said police rushed to the scene after receiving the information and recovered the body.

A primary investigation was conducted, and assistance was sought from the special branch of Tangail district police to identify the deceased.

According to police, a case of unnatural death has been filed at Nagarpur Police Station. Further legal action will be taken upon completion of the autopsy and identification of the body.
