UP admin officer arrested for molesting woman

Police have arrested Md. Abu Musa, an administrative officer of Vadsa Union Parishad, on charges of molesting a woman in Joypurhat. He was sent to court on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the victim is working as a family welfare assistant at the Department of Family Planning. She was abandoned by her husband and lives in her father’s house.

According to the case report, Abu Musa was a previous acquaintance of the woman. He used to harass her on his cell phone. He used to send offensive messages on Facebook Messenger. She came to Joypurhat city at 5 pm on Tuesday to visit her sick aunt Sharmin Akhter.

Abu Musa came to know about her coming to Joypurhat city. Abu Musa tricked her into taking her to the rented house of Fahima Member in Masterpara of the city by promising her tea.

There, Musa took her to a room and made a sexual proposal to her. At one point, Abu Musa touched her in a sensitive area of her body. She pushed Musa and ran outside the house to the road. Then Musa also ran behind her and grabbed her.

When she screamed, people gathered there. They detained Musa. She called 999 to report the incident. Then the police came and arrested Abu Musa and took him to the police station.

The woman said, Abu Musa was previously an administrative officer of a union council. At that time, I met him while registering my son’s birth. From then on, Musa kept mentioning me. Abu Musa was transferred from there and came to Vadsa union council.
