New DC visits white stone site

The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Md. Sarwar Alam has said that measures will be taken to ensure that no more stones are stolen from the white stone in Companiganj Sylhet.
On the first day of assuming office, on Thursday (August 21) afternoon, he visited the white stone on site and inspected the damaged areas and observed the stone replacement work.
In response to questions from journalists, the Deputy Commissioner said that whatever needs to be done to restore the white stone to its previous form will be done. In addition, who is involved in this looting, why and how it happened, will be investigated.
He also said that the people are our strength. The people have already taken a stand against this looting.
It is learned that there is anger in thearea over the damage and theft of white stones in Companiganj. An attempt is being made to strengthen the security of white stones through this step of the new Deputy Commissioner.
It is worth noting that Md. Sarwar Alam assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet on Thursday morning. Earlier in the morning, when Sarwar Alam reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he was greeted with flowers by Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi and senior officials.
