Lutfur Rahman alias Nepur Mia lives in the UK. He comes and goes to the country every few days. When he comes to the country, he files a case only when he has a disagreement or minor trouble with someone. There are allegations against Nepur that he has been creating disputes with his neighbor Motahir Ali over land and past enmity for decades.
Motahir and Nepur’s houses are located next to each other in Latibpur village of Usmanpur union in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet. Motahir died a few years ago. But Nepur and his people have been torturing Motahir’s family. Fed up with the torture, Motahir’s son Imrul Islam recently filed a written complaint at the Osmaninagar police station. In this, Nepur, Farid and Nepur’s son Zafar Imam were accused.
After learning about Imrul’s complaint, Nepur filed a counter-complaint with the police station, mentioning the date of the incident on June 4, against Imrul and 5 others for stealing furniture and demanding money. The only witness to Nepur’s written complaint is Fakhrul Islam, son of Siddiq Ali of Latibpur village, who signed the written undertaking given to the villagers on June 24 and an affidavit to Notary Parli on August 11.
He said that on June 22, Nepur’s sons Zafar Imam, Farid Ahmed and 2 others forcibly took him to a private car and threatened him with death and made him sign the case papers as witnesses.
The incident in the case is completely false and fabricated. Imrul alleged that even after learning about the witness undertaking, ASI Saidur filed a GD (GD No. 270) against them on August 6 for financial gain and filed a non-FIR prosecution in court the next day. Imrul’s complaint investigation officer, SI Omar Faruk, has expressed his anger that he has not made any progress in his complaint by joining hands with his opponent and taking immoral benefits.
ASI Saidur Rahman said that the complaint has been sent to the court due to a dispute over land. And SI Omar Faruk says that there is no progress, they can file a case in the court if they want. The villagers of Napur are shocked by such an incident.
They said that on June 23 last year, Napur’s sons Zafar Imam and Farid brought people and took away furniture and goods in a car. Now they have filed a case again.
Filing cases against people is his addiction. Imrul’s complaint filed at the police station said that for a few days, there has been an attempt to evict Imrul’s family from their house through hired terrorists.
On June 11, Napur, Farid and Zafar Imam went to Imrul’s house with a group and vandalized the house, abusing Imrul and the people in the house and threatening to kill them. Imrul and his family are worried about the safety of their lives and property due to harassment and death threats through fabricated cases.
The complaint mentions that there are multiple cases against Nepur and his son in different police stations. After investigating the matter, it was learned that Nepur’s son Zafar Imam was an accused in the drug and smuggling case filed at Gowainghat Police Station in Sylhet in 2020. In the past, an investigation report filed in the case of taking possession of a woman’s land through forged documents proved that there was fraud, and an arrest warrant was issued against Nepur and an order was issued to attach all his belongings.
The witnesses got trapped by signing the forged documents of Nepur in good faith. When the witnesses revealed the truth during the investigation in the fraud case, Nepur became angry. To take revenge, Nepur filed a kidnapping case against 7 people, including Imrul’s father Motahir, who hid the maid of Nepur’s house in an unknown place and gave the maid’s wife as a witness for the forged document. Later, the police rescued the maid from the house of one of Nepur’s relatives.
The alleged plaintiff confessed to the court that he had filed the case at the instigation of Nepur and in exchange for money. Zilu Mia, a member of Ward No. 8 of Usmanpur Union, and local Murabbi Nazrul Islam said that Nepur has been deliberately creating a dispute with Imrul’s family over land-related issues for many years. Nepur has not been with the village panchayat for many years. He has harassed Imrul’s family in various ways, including filing a case against them, without following anyone’s decision.
Golam Lutfur Rahman alias Nepur Mia denied the allegations and said that they have occupied the purchased land, including my ancestral land. Because of them, I am not able to stay at home and am staying in Sylhet city.
