Yunus begins 3-day official trip to Malaysia

Malaysia accorded a warm welcome to Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday as he arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a three-day state visit.
Professor Yunus landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 7:50pm local time on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka.
He was received by Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
On Tuesday morning, the Chief Adviser will be formally welcomed at the Putrajaya Complex by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in a ceremony that will include the playing of the national anthems and an inspection of the guard of honour.
A private meeting followed by delegation-level talks will be held between the two leaders to review progress in areas including migration and investment, and to identify ways of further strengthening bilateral relations.
Briefing reporters ahead of the visit, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that migration and investment would be among the key priorities during the discussions.
On 12 August, Professor Yunus will take part in a business conference before returning to Putrajaya for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Anwar.
The meeting is expected to conclude with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), alongside five MoUs and three notes of exchange between the two nations.
The Chief Adviser is also expected to engage in a views-exchange session with members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Malaysia.
On 13 August, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) will confer an honorary doctorate on Professor Yunus in recognition of his contributions. Following the conferment, he will deliver a commemorative lecture to UKM students and later pay a courtesy call on UKM Chancellor and Ruler of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir.
The Chief Adviser is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, and BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.
Professor Yunus is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 13 August.
