SBMCH students give 24-hour ultimatum for health sector reforms

The students and public have given a 24-hour ultimatum demanding health sector reforms.
They also warned that if their three demands are not met, they will take up agitation programs across the country.
The protesters made this announcement at a press conference in Nathullabad central bus stand area of Barishal on Sunday.
Expressing solidarity with the students in the movement, Senior Nayeb Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, joined the movement.
Apart from this, some NCP leaders were also seen joining the programme.
Earlier, the protesters blocked the Barishal-Dhaka-Barishal highway in Nathullabad crossing on Sunday morningfor the fourth day.
This caused indescribable suffering to the people of the southern region. The protesters were asked to leave the road at noon to reduce public suffering and at one stage, they got into a scuffle with the army and police.
Then they left the road around 4:30 pm after announcing an ultimatum. Mentionable the protestor students and public offeres Jumma prayers on the road demanding reforms in the health sector blockade program in Barishal to break the health sector syndicate.

One of the protesters, Hossain Ali said, “They did not want to sit in Nathullabad. As the army and police engaged in a scuffle with us, we have continued the blockade program.” If the announced three demands are not accepted within 24 hours, this movement will spread across the country.
Organiser of the programme Mohiuddin Roni said, infrastructural development is needed in all government hospitals across the country including Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
