A case has been filed with Gowainghat Police Station in the case of the murder of a person named Imam Uddin (38) in the Jaflong tea garden of Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet.
The deceased’s father Hormuz Ali filed the case as the plaintiff on Tuesday (August 5) night.
The case names Kapil Uddin Liton as the main accused and 25 people and names 10-12 unknown people as accused.
Meanwhile, Gowainghat Police Station has conducted a drive in this incident and arrested 9 people.
The arrested are Kapil Uddin Liton, son of Manjjir Ahmed of Jaflong Tea Garden area, Niranjan Goala, son of Swargiya Basant Goala, Akkel Prodhan, son of Shubham Prodhan, Bishwajit, son of Biren Ghatua, Chappal Karmakar, son of Chunilal Karmakar, Sanjit Mridha, son of Hridoy Mridha, Kajal Roy, son of Biren Roy, Kajal Roy, son of Mangal Roy, and Sajeeb Karmakar, son of Babul Karmakar.
Confirming the matter, Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Md. Tofail Ahmed said that the father of the deceased has filed a case in the Jaflong tea garden murder case. In view of which, the police conducted a drive and arrested 9 people. The police operation is continuing to arrest the remaining accused.
Meanwhile, Imam Uddin was detained and beaten up in the tea garden on Monday night. The family has alleged that Imam Uddin died at one stage of the beating. On Tuesday (August 5) morning, the police recovered Imam Uddin’s body from a room in the Jaflong tea garden. The deceased Imam Uddin is the son of Hormuz Ali of Medi village of the upazila.
